Summary

The SmartBeeKeep project aspires to capitalize on modern developments in IT technologies
and Communications in the fields of beekeeping and the study of biodiversity by proposing one
innovative platform that will serve and facilitate the beekeeping activity and
research, in Greece and internationally.

The main objectives are:

(a) the provision of tools for the participatory mapping of the beekeeping flora and study of the local biodiversity, while for selected plant species the approximate estimation of the flowering time at an early stage will be investigated,

(b) the provision of new innovative facilities and services to
beekeeping community (beekeepers, analysis laboratories and beekeeping researchers)

and (c) the evaluation of the applications through a pilot application in two study areas of the Prefecture
Thessaloniki, in order to demonstrate that local biodiversity combined with "smart"
beekeeping leads to products of high added value
(increasing production, optimizing quality), as well as saving management resources and
production.

The ambition of the cooperative scheme is the exploitation of the platform through a subscription
low-cost service that will "intelligently" manage a multitude of data and templates,
providing significant advantages to its users and contributing significantly to its study
biodiversity.

In addition, the creation of an innovative online store that draws from the
platform and is the first step in establishing a new way of "pairing" the
producers with the final consumers (without intermediaries), so as to give the opportunity to the final
consumer to finance and actively participate in all stages for production
specific product that interests him (e-beekeeping).
